Is Pay Per Click for You?
I recently watched a coaching client transform into the Tasmanian Devil from an old Bug’s Bunny cartoon before my eyes. She got herself so confused and worked up about all of the rules and guidelines of a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaign she was spinning out of control and unable to make any progress.
When it comes to mastering internet marketing it is important to remember that you don’t have to use every program on the market in hopes of casting a wide net to bring in a lot of little fish. Instead you should pick and choose the ones that work best for your objectives.
In order to provide my client with perspective, I asked her the most important first question, “Why are doing PPC?” I was not trying to dissuade her but instead make sure she was choosing the right match of internet marketing to her content and product expertise. I have heard stories of people who have spent a lot of money on PPC and have gotten no results and then of course I know people who have used PPC and have done very well. One of the reasons people are not getting great results is because they don’t really understand the market or what people are willing to pay for. They haven’t done any research or they don’t have any sense of what’s really needed and so they create something that is not in big demand. What causes people to make a buying decision online is if the product or service that is guaranteeing a positive result. For instance, does it help people lose weight or get into good shape because those are things people are more likely to make an emotional purchase, quickly.
What also does well with PPC is a product that will provide people with a way to make money, either in place of their current income or a way to subsidize it. Other profitable programs that are a natural fit fort PPC are related to health, be it physical, emotional or relationships.
Any internet marketing plan, especially something like PPC, requires an investment in research and possibly outsourcing the writing of great copy. It is more than just about following the rules and guidelines you need to have everything in place for a solid if you are going to get sales conversions.
In my next post I will share the details of what makes a successful product launch and how you can model the best of the best.
Have you had success with PPC? I’d love to hear your story and strategies so that others can learn from you.
