Are You Missing Out on Great Opportunities?

Recently I mentioned that I flew out to Los Angeles to make my big screen debut.  Here is the back story.

I was hired by the Creator and Executive Director of the movie to coach them through the launch of the movie, The Inner Weigh.  It is about how to overcome what can be a life-time struggle with weight loss.  The more I learn about it and get to know the people involved, the more I wanted to be in the movie.

I knew they were in the final editing stage and I originally put the thought of being in front of the camera out of my mind (or at least off to the side!).  Then I was being interviewed on a radio show and when I found out the interviewer was in the movie, I got even more determined to be a part of it. How can I get in this movie?  So I decided to just ask.

I reached out to the original creator, Dr. David Smiley.   He had read most of my books and after reading Viral Explosions he gave it to his partner and told him to hire me.  When I approached him I was sincere, I communicated that I understood they were wrapping things up and I respected their process.  I figured I would put it out there in the Universe and see what happened.  He responded to my email explaining that it would be very difficult to honor my request.  Ah ha! “Very difficult” to me is not the same as “No.” To me, that meant he needed more information to come to a new decision.  So I asked him straight out – what has to happen to make it easy?  Well, if I could be in Los Angeles the following Tuesday it might work.  Needless to say I booked the flight.

Part of being a “manifestor” is having the vision, creating the feeling and then taking the action. A lot of people get ideas but they don’t do anything about it.  I really wanted to contribute to the movie. I knew I had something of value to bring to the table so I decided to put it out there and make the request.  I really had to clear my agenda to make it happen.  I didn’t know what to expect, but I was going for it.  I was so impressed by the whole operation.  The director was fantastic and the elaborate camera they used was the same one used in Alice in Wonderland. This was no rinky-dink production.   They put me in a room in front of the camera and the director asked me questions and I answered them into the camera.  The premise of The Inner Weigh process is FIT – Face it, Imagine it, Trust it.  Face your challenge or vision, imagine the end result as you want it, and then trust in the process.   It was a lot of fun and I got really passionate by the whole process.  The movie is scheduled to be released in October.

The lesson here is: sometimes you just have to ask.  A lot of people are afraid to ask for what they want.  You don’t know what result you will get or not get unless you pose the question.  You don’t ask, you don’t get, right?  It is also important how you make the request.  I was sincere and respectful, “I just wanted to ask, love to be in it, add something of value, etc….”

Think about a project or partner you would LOVE to be involved with and go for it!  In the meantime, check out the trailer for the movie here. http://www.theinnerweigh.com/

Hi Peggy,

Wonderful story of The Inner Weigh. I wanted to share my story on how I go to be in the movie as well. Back in 1998, I was a personal trainer and watched people struggle with many issues with their body. From the time I was a young kid I was over weight. I lived on diets of every kind. So here in my 40’s I was a personal trainer and in the best fitness I had ever been in but there was one thing. I had dropped from a size 12 to a size 2 but every time I looked in the mirror all I saw was body fat. I knew there was something wrong with me. I was working out 6 days a week with 2 ( men) partners. We trained so hard at 6 AM that I would go home and beg God for just 5 minutes to rest. I loved every minute of it. My diet was cleaned then it ever was in my life. So how could I see body fat???? That set me on a journey of the inner weigh. Then back in 2007 I self published my first book ” A Healthy Mind Leads To A Healthy Body”.

In 2008, I meet an amazing lady name Carole Dean. By then I wrote another book and was looking to get a film grant for this. Carole was guiding me to learn about films and grants. She has a great book called ” The Art Of Film Funding” . Back in November Carole and I was talking about writing a script ( am working on it). Then she mention Dr. David Smiley and he was doing a documentary on mind over body in weight loss and fitness. In that moment, I knew I had to mention to her about my work as a personal trainer and the self -love I had learned and was helping others with loving their bodies and about my book. She asked me to send her all my information. I did right away. She then gave it to David Smiley. I knew I was meant to be in this amazing movie. I asked the universe to please make this happen.
A couple weeks went by then I received a call on a Thursday from David asking me if I would be interested in coming to LA to be in the movie. I was so excited and honored to be able to be apart of this project with amazing teachers like You!! The Inner Weigh is the only way!! Much love Carol
